1. About This Policy
This policy explains how Dashoo (operated by GW Digital) uses cookies, local storage, and similar tracking technologies in our mobile application and on our website (dashoo.app). It applies to users in all jurisdictions including the EU/EEA, UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
2. What Are Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Similar technologies include local storage, device identifiers, and SDKs embedded in mobile apps. These help services function correctly, remember preferences, and measure performance.
3. Technologies We Use
| Technology | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| AWS Cognito tokens | Strictly necessary | Keep you logged in securely | Session / refresh token (30 days) |
| SharedPreferences / UserDefaults | Strictly necessary | Store app settings (theme, locale, recording preferences) | Until cleared |
| Google AdMob SDK | Advertising (consent required) | Serve and measure ads on free tier | Varies by ad network |
| Advertising ID (IDFA/GAID) | Advertising (consent required) | Personalise ads and measure conversions | Until reset by user |
| RevenueCat SDK | Functional | Manage subscription state | Session |
| Crash report data | Performance | Diagnose app crashes | 12 months |
| Cloudflare Web Analytics (website only) | Analytics, cookieless | Aggregate page views and visit counts for dashoo.app | Not stored per-visitor; no cookies or persistent identifiers used |
| OpenAI Ads Pixel (website only, "__oppref") | Advertising (consent required) | Measures whether visits and downloads on dashoo.app came from our ChatGPT ad campaigns | First-party cookie, 30 days |
4. Consent and Legal Basis
Strictly Necessary
Authentication tokens and app settings do not require consent as they are essential for the App to function. This applies under GDPR Article 6(1)(b) (contract performance) and the UK PECR exemption for strictly necessary storage.
Advertising (Free Tier Only)
We request your consent before enabling advertising tracking. Under GDPR/UK GDPR, this is based on Article 6(1)(a) (consent). Under Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework, we display the system prompt before accessing your IDFA.
- EU/UK users: Ads are only personalised with your explicit consent (ePrivacy Directive / PECR).
- California users: You may opt out of the "sharing" of personal information for advertising under CCPA/CPRA.
- All users: You can use the app without personalised ads. Non-personalised ads will be shown if you decline.
Advertising (Website)
If you arrive at dashoo.app from one of our ads (for example, an ad shown in ChatGPT), we use the OpenAI Ads Pixel to measure whether that visit led to a download. This sets the first-party __oppref cookie described in the table above. This is not strictly necessary for the site to function, so a cookie banner asks for your consent on your first visit, and the pixel is only loaded after you accept. You can accept or decline at any time from the "Cookie preferences" link in the site footer.
5. How to Manage Your Preferences
In the App
- Go to Settings → Privacy to manage ad personalisation consent.
- Upgrading to Ad-Free or Pro removes all advertising and associated tracking.
On Your Device
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking (disable per-app tracking)
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising (turn off Personalised Ads)
- Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads → Delete advertising ID
On Our Website
Our marketing website (dashoo.app) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to see aggregate visit counts and popular pages. This runs without cookies, without collecting personal data, and without tracking individual visitors across sites, so no consent is required for it under GDPR/UK GDPR or PECR. Separately, we use the OpenAI Ads Pixel to measure the performance of our ChatGPT ad campaigns (see "Advertising (Website)" above). A cookie banner asks for your consent to this on your first visit, and the pixel only loads after you accept. Use the "Cookie preferences" link in the site footer at any time to reopen the banner and change your choice.
6. Third-Party Cookies
Google AdMob may set third-party cookies or use device identifiers for ad targeting and measurement. Google's privacy policy applies to data they collect: policies.google.com/privacy
OpenAI's Ads Pixel, used on dashoo.app to measure ad conversions, sets the first-party __oppref cookie described above and shares page-visit and download-click events with OpenAI. OpenAI's privacy policy applies to data they collect: openai.com/policies/privacy-policy
7. Children
We do not knowingly serve personalised advertising to users under 17. The App is not intended for children.
8. Changes to This Policy
We will update this policy if our use of tracking technologies changes. Material changes will be communicated via the App.
